Accessible Suite
The owners of this house were retired and had their primary bedroom on the second floor and wanted to create a wheelchair accessible suite on the main level for aging in place. The project entailed an addition into the backyard for the new owner’s suite and new siding, trim and windows on the main house. The addition features fully accessible spaces, large windows and skylights, vaulted ceilings, main level laundry, a new walk-in closet and customized storage. Custom tile layouts, sculptural light fixtures, and wood ceilings accentuate the spaces. The project received two National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) awards for the Universal Bath & Residential Addition Categories.
