This home in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood sits on the highest point in St. Paul. The home is set into the hillside to instill a more modest street presence and close to the street to maintain its urban character. The program called for a retirement home that is fully accessible including an elevator. The goal was to create a traditional style home with a high level of detail and craftsmanship reminiscent of the English Arts and Crafts style. There was a focus on creating transitional spaces between inside and out such as the front porch, screened porch, deck, balcony, back patio and grotto. The home was featured on the Homes by Architects Tour and in Arts and Crafts Homes magazine. A color consultant was used for the vibrant house colors.
