Backyard Oasis
This house exterior was in disrepair and needed new siding, trim, and a more functional deck. The owners wanted to create backyard spaces that gave them more options for outdoor use while strengthening the connection to the often-used yard. A screened porch was designed as an outdoor room that acts as an extension of the house. The porch has a TV, lounge furniture, table and fireplace so it can accommodate a variety of uses from family meals, to entertaining, to afternoon naps. The vaulted wood ceilings allow daylight to reach the house interiors while creating a design feature visible from the inside and adding warmth to the space. The original deck was small and tiered in height creating an awkward separation of spaces. The new deck was enlarged for better flow with cable rails to keep the views open to the lower yard. New siding and trim details were added to refresh and bring life to the house.
